Vitamins for health
Vitamins and minerals are vital for good health. We normally get our supply of vitamins and minerals from our diet, although the sun stimulates the body to make the vitamin D we need.

Vitamins help make sure your body's cells work properly, by controlling the growth and repair of tissues. They also stimulate energy production. You need to make sure you have the RDA (Recommended Daily Amount) of each vitamin. You should be able to manage this if you eat at least five servings of fruit and vegetables each day, some cereal or wholegrains, and a helping of lean meat or oily fish.

Vitamins are a group of organic substances that are required in minute quantities in the diet in order to maintain good health. A lack of a particular vitamin results in a deficiency disease. There are six vitamin groups such as Vitamin A, B, C, D, E , K and P.

Vitamins are classified as Fat soluble vitamins and Water soluble vitamins. Fat soluble vitamins include

  1. Vitamin A and Carotene ( Provitamin A),
  2. Vitamin D - Vitamin D2 (Calciferol, artificial vitamin D) and Vitamin D3 ( Irradiated dehydrocholesterol), Natural Vitamin D),
  3. Vitamin E and

Water soluble vitamins include

Minerals are chemical substances such as calcium, sodium, iron and potassium which act as components of main body structures like bones, teeth, blood and soft tissues. They are found in green vegetables, fruits, cereals, nuts, seeds diary products, eggs and fish. A deficiency of minerals can lead to particular conditions. For example deficiency of iron can lead to some forms of anemia.

Vitamins and minerals doesn't directly provide energy but they contribute to nutrition by allowing chemical reactions to occur normally through out the body. Some cereals.

Animal foods:
Oily fish such as tuna (and try cod liver oil), milk, liver, eggs.
Vitamin E

No RDA
Helps in formation and protection of red blood cells; protects cell linings in lungs and other tissues, may slow down cell ageing. Plant foods:
Whole grains, green leafy vegetable such as spinach or curly kale, nuts.

Animal foods:
Fish, meat.

Mobile phone usage can lead to Cancer (Brain Tumor)

Maine to consider cell phone cancer warning

AUGUSTA, Maine – A Maine legislator wants to make the state the first to require cell phones to carry warnings that they can cause brain cancer, although there is no consensus among scientists that they do and industry leaders dispute the claim.

The now-ubiquitous devices carry such warnings in some countries, though no U.S. states require them, according to the National Conference of State Legislators. A similar effort is afoot in San Francisco, where Mayor Gavin Newsom wants his city to be the nation's first to require the warnings.

Maine Rep. Andrea Boland, D-Sanford, said numerous studies point to the cancer risk, and she has persuaded legislative leaders to allow her proposal to come up for discussion during the 2010 session that begins in January, a session usually reserved for emergency and governors' bills.

Boland herself uses a cell phone, but with a speaker to keep the phone away from her head. She also leaves the phone off unless she's expecting a call. At issue is radiation emitted by all cell phones.

Under Boland's bill, manufacturers would have to put labels on phones and packaging warning of the potential for brain cancer associated with electromagnetic radiation. The warnings would recommend that users, especially children and pregnant women, keep the devices away from their head and body.

The Federal Communications Commission, which maintains that all cell phones sold in the U.S. are safe, has set a standard for the "specific absorption rate" of radiofrequency energy, but it doesn't require handset makers to divulge radiation levels.

The San Francisco proposal would require the display of the absorption rate level next to each phone in print at least as big as the price. Boland's bill is not specific about absorption rate levels, but would require a permanent, nonremovable advisory of risk in black type, except for the word "warning," which would be large and in red letters. It would also include a color graphic of a child's brain next to the warning.

While there's little agreement about the health hazards, Boland said Maine's roughly 950,000 cell phone users among its 1.3 million residents "do not know what the risks are."

All told, more than 270 million people subscribed to cellular telephone service last year in the United States, an increase from 110 million in 2000, according to CTIA-The Wireless Association. The industry group contends the devices are safe.

"With respect to the matter of health effects associated with wireless base stations and the use of wireless devices, CTIA and the wireless industry have always been guided by science, and the views of impartial health organizations. The peer-reviewed scientific evidence has overwhelmingly indicated that wireless devices do not pose a public health risk," said CTIA's John Walls.

James Keller of Lewiston, whose cell phone serves as his only phone, seemed skeptical about warning labels. He said many things may cause cancer but lack scientific evidence to support that belief. Besides, he said, people can't live without cell phones.

"It seems a little silly to me, but it's not going to hurt anyone to have a warning on there. If they're really concerned about it, go ahead and put a warning on it," he said outside a sporting good store in Topsham. "It wouldn't deter me from buying a phone."

While there's been no long-term studies on cell phones and cancer, some scientists suggest erring on the side of caution.

Last year, Dr. Ronald B. Herberman, director emeritus of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, sent a memo to about 3,000 faculty and staff members warning of risks based on early, unpublished data. He said that children should use the phones only for emergencies because their brains were still developing and that adults should keep the phone away from the head and use a speakerphone or a wireless headset.

Herberman, who says scientific conclusions often take too long, is one of numerous doctors and researchers who have endorsed an August report by retired electronics engineer L. Lloyd Morgan. The report highlights a study that found significantly increased risk of brain tumors from 10 or more years of cell phone or cordless phone use.

Also, the BioInitiative Working Group, an international group of scientists, notes that many countries have issued warnings and that the European Parliament has passed a resolution calling for governmental action to address concerns over health risks from mobile phone use.

But the National Cancer Institute said studies thus far have turned up mixed and inconsistent results, noting that cell phones did not come into widespread use in the United States until the 1990s.

"Although research has not consistently demonstrated a link between cellular telephone use and cancer, scientists still caution that further surveillance is needed before conclusions can be drawn," according to the Cancer Institute's Web site.

Motorola Inc., one of the nation's major wireless phone makers, says on its Web site that all of its products comply with international safety guidelines for radiofrequency energy exposure.

آٹھ بار میری ماں نے مجھ سے جھوٹ بولا۔۔۔
٭یہ کہانی میری پیدائش سے شروع ہوتی ہے۔۔میں ایک بہت غریب فیملی کا اکلوتا بیٹا تھا۔۔ہمارے پاس کھانے کو کچھ بھی نہ تھا۔۔۔اور اگر کبھی ہمیں کھانے کو کچھ مل جاتا تو امی اپنے حصے کا کھانا بھی مجھے دے دیتیں اور کہتیں۔۔تم کھا لو مجھے بھوک نہیں ہے۔۔۔یہ میری ماں کا پہلا جھوٹ تھا۔
٭جب میں تھوڑا بڑا ہوا تو ماں گھر کا کام ختم کر کے قریبی جھیل پر مچھلیاں پکڑنے جاتی اور ایک دن اللہ کے کرم سے دو مچھلیاں پکڑ لیں تو انھیں جلدی جلدی پکایا اور میرے سامنے رکھ دیا۔میں کھاتا جاتا اور جو کانٹے کے ساتھ تھوڑا لگا رہ جاتا اسے وہ کھاتی۔۔۔یہ دیکھ کر مجھے بہت دکھ ہوا ۔۔میں نے دوسری مچھلی ماں کے سامنے رکھ دی ۔۔اس نے واپس کر دی اور کہا ۔۔بیٹا تم کھالو۔۔تمھیں پتہ ہے نا مچھلی مجھے پسند نہیں ہے۔۔۔یہ میری ماں کا دوسرا جھوٹ تھا۔
٭جب میں سکول جانے کی عمر کا ہوا تو میری ماں نے ایک گارمنٹس کی فیکٹری کے ساتھ کام کرنا شروع کیا۔۔اور گھر گھر جا کر گارمنٹس بیچتی۔۔۔سردی کی ایک رات جب بارش بھی زوروں پر تھی۔۔میں ماں کا انتظار کر رہا تھا جو ابھی تک نہیں آئی تھی۔۔میں انھیں ڈھونڈنے کے لیے آس پاس کی گلیوں میں نکل گیا۔۔دیکھا تو وہ لوگوںکے دروازوں میں کھڑی سامان بیچ رہی تھی۔۔۔میں نے کہا ماں! اب بس بھی کرو ۔۔تھک گئی ہوگی ۔۔سردی بھی بہت ہے۔۔ٹائم بھی بہت ہو گیا ہے ۔۔باقی کل کر لینا۔۔تو ماں بولی۔۔بیٹا! میں بالکل نہیں تھکی۔۔۔یہ میری ماں کا تیسرا جھوٹ تھا
٭ایک روز میرا فائنل ایگزام تھا۔۔اس نے ضد کی کہ وہ بھی میرے ساتھ چلے گی ۔۔میں اندر پیپر دے رہا تھا اور وہ باہر دھوپ کی تپش میں کھڑی میرے لیے دعا کر رہی تھی۔۔میں باہر آیا تو اس نے مجھے اپنی آغوش میں لے لیا اور مجھے ٹھنڈا جوس دیا جو اس نے میرے لیے خریدا تھا۔۔۔میں نے جوس کا ایک گھونٹ لیا اور ماں کے پسینے سے شرابور چہرے کی طرف دیکھا۔۔میں نے جوس ان کی طرف بڑھا دیا تو وہ بولی۔۔نہیں بیٹا تم پیو۔۔۔مجھے پیاس نہیں ہے۔۔یہ میری ماں کا چوتھا جھوٹ تھا۔
٭ میرے باپ کی موت ہوگئی تو میری ماں کو اکیلے ہی زندگی گزارنی پڑی۔۔زندگی اور مشکل ہوگئی۔۔اکیلے گھر کا خرچ چلانا تھا۔۔نوبت فاقوں تک آگئی۔۔میرا چچا ایک اچھا انسان تھا ۔۔وہ ہمارے لیے کچھ نہ کچھ بھیج دیتا۔۔جب ہمارے پڑوسیوں نے ہماری ی حالت دیکھی تو میری ماں کو دوسری شادی کا مشورہ دیا کہ تم ابھی جوان ہو۔۔مگر میری ماں نے کہا نہیںمجھے سہارے کی ضرورت نہیں ۔۔۔یہ میری ماں کا پانچواں جھوٹ تھا۔

Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents. In this regard please be cautious at the time of accepting any LPG cylinder from the Vendor.

Here is how we can check the expiry of LPG cylinders:
On one of three side stems of the cylinder, the expiry date is coded alpha numerically as follows A or B or C or D and some two digit number following this e.g. D06.

The alphabets stand for quarters -
1. A for March (First Qtr),
2. B for June (Second Qtr),
3. C for Sept (Third Qtr), &
4. D for December (Fourth Qtr).

The digits stand for the year till it is valid. Hence D06 would mean December qtr of 2006.

Please Return Back the Cylinder that you get with a Expiry Date, they are prone to Leak and other Hazardous accidents...

* Take 4 figs and boil them in 2 cups of water. If one drinks this decoction for one month in morning with empty stomach then it shows the wonderful results.

* Take 60ml of fresh lime juice and same quantity of olive oil and now mix them a large glass of water. It is helpful in passing the stones in just24 hours and provides you relief.

* Take a pan and add a glass of water with 2 medium sized onions and cook them well. When it reaches to normal temperature, blend them in blender. Strain this and drink the decoction for 3 days. It is very helpful as you feel the passing of stone even on the second day.

* Since the body transforms vitamin C into oxalate, taking high doses (more than 3,000 milligrams daily) of the vitamin poses an issue for people battling kidney stones. Eliminate vitamin C supplements from your routine and opt to receive your daily dose from food.

* To lessen uric acid stone formation, lower the amount of animal protein contained in your daily diet. Meats and certain fish can hasten the formation of uric acid and calcium in urine, which can lead to stone formation.

* Out of all the fruits suggested for kidney stones treatment, watermelon is considered the best and safest because it contains the highest concentration of water and provides an impressive amount of potassium salts.

* To fight calcium stones, lowering your salt intake can help. Pass on sprinkling extra salt on your French fries, avoid pickled foods, and choose low sodium potato chips. You should aim for reducing your salt consumption to only two to three grams per day.

ACNE, BLACKHEADS, AND PIMPLES:
Dab a small amount of toothpaste (paste, not gel) on pimples before bed; this helps dry out the pimples. 
Mix equal amounts of lemon juice and rose water, apply to face with a cotton ball, and allow to set for 30 minutes before rinsing. 15-20 days of this application helps cure pimples and also helps to remove blemishes and scars.
Apply fresh lemon juice on the affected area overnight. Wash it off with warm water next morning.
For acne that hasn't seemed to respond to anything, steep 2-3 tsp. dried basil leaves in 1 cup boiling water for 10-20 minutes, cool, and apply to affected area with a cotton ball.

Boil some cinnamon bark in a cup of water. Store it in a clean bottle in your bathroom. Use it as a mouthwash frequently.

DAMAGED, DRY HAIR:
 
A nourishing conditioner for dry or damaged hair, which can be used for all hair types: Separate the white of an egg from the yolk, whip it to a peak. Add 1 Tbsp. water to the yolk and blend until the mixture is creamy. Then mix the white and yolk together. Wet your hair with warm water, remove the excess moisture, and apply the mixture to your scalp with your fingertips. Massage gently until the froth is worked into your scalp, and then rinse the hair with cool water. Keep applying the mixture until it is used up and then rinsed until all of the egg is washed away.

Pour distilled white vinegar onto the hair, as close to the scalp as you can manage; massage into the scalp; and allow to dry for several minutes before washing as usual. Repeat daily until the dandruff disappears, usually within a few days.

HAIR LIGHTENER:
To lighten hair, use 1/4 cup chopped fresh rhubarb to 2 cups boiling water. Cool, strain, and apply as a rinse.

Soak the gum-coated hair in Coke® and it should wipe out easily.

DARK CIRCLES AROUND EYES:
Make a paste out of 1 tsp. tomato juice, 1/2 tsp. lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder, and 1 tsp. of flour. Apply around eyes. Leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing.

DRY SKIN:
Combine 1-cup oatmeal, 1-cup warm water, 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract, and 1/2-cup baking soda in a blender or food processor until you have a smooth paste. Pour this paste under the running water while drawing the bath. Very soothing to dry, itchy skin.

OILY SKIN:
For oily skin, mix 1/2 cup cooked oatmeal, 1 egg white, 1 Tbsp. lemon juice, and 1/2 cup mashed apple into a smooth paste. Apply to face and leave on 15 minutes. Rinse.

SUNBURN:
Mix 2 tsp. tomato juice and 1/4 cup buttermilk. Apply to affected area. Rinse after 1/2 hour.

FACIAL CLEANSER:
Mix 2Tbsp. cornstarch, 2Tbsp. glycerin, and 1/2-cup water until smooth. Heat in a small pan placed in a water bath inside another pan. Heat until thick and clear; it will have the consistency of pudding. Do not boil. Cool completely, Use in place of soap to cleanse your skin. (If mixture is too thick, you may thin it by adding a little water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until you reach the desired consistency. )

WRINKLES & SKIN FRESHENER:
Combine 2 Tbsp. vodka, 1 Tbsp. fennel seeds, and 1 1/2 tsp. honey. Stir well and allow to set for 3 days. Strain mixture. Use full strength or add 2 Tbsp water to dilute. Use a cotton ball to apply to face as a toner.
Apply coconut oil on the portions of skin and face where wrinkles set in and gently massage every night at bedtime.

WEAK NAILS:
To strengthen and shine nails, combine 2 tsp. salt, 2 tsp. castor oil, and 1 tsp. wheat germ oil and mix thoroughly. Pour into bottle. Shake before using. To use, rub a small amount into your nails. Leave on 3-5 minutes and tissue off. Follow up with more plain castor oil, if desired.

YELLOW TEETH:
Mix salt with finely powdered rind of lime. Use this as toothpowder frequently.

EYE PROBLEMS:
Simmer 1-cup water and 1 tsp. honey for 5 minutes. Dip a cloth in the liquid and apply to the closed eye.
